About

Richard Fairhurst, Charlbury, Oxfordshire.

I'm a journalist, cartographer and occasional web developer.

I edit Waterways World magazine, contribute to OpenStreetMap, play the organ at St Mary's Charlbury, and run the Charlbury Website. I'm married to Anna. Our 40ft narrowboat, Iago Prytherch, is moored in Burton-on-Trent. (Our other boat, ex-GUCCC Hagley, is under restoration on the Aylesbury Arm.)

In the past I have edited waterscape.com for British Waterways and worked at magazines including Canal Boat, Heritage, Keyboard Review and Amstrad Action.

These are a few of my favourite things: the National Cycle Network, the music of Maurice Duruflé, Factory Records and Shooglenifty, real cider, Citroen C3 Pluriels, old maps, and open-source Flash.

All opinions are, of course, my own and may not be shared by anyone, let alone my employers.
