3 May 2005 The Durufle ColumnI don't want this to turn into a linkblog, but this collection of organ MP3s is absolutely my favourite site at the moment. In particular, head for the posting of 15th April and the Durufle 'Chant donne'. This delightful little piece almost lives up to the standard of Durufle's Veni Creator, the most arresting piece of music I've heard in years (particularly the final variation). I'm hoping to learn the 'Fugue sur le carillon des heures de la cathedral de Soissons' this year. Incidentally, many of these recordings have been recorded with the wondrous Hauptwerk. If I were an electronic organ manufacturer like Makin's, I'd just give up now. Comments | |
